Privacy policy.
Last Legal works on your phone. There's no account, no sign-up and no email address, and the times you type in never leave your device. We don't track you, we don't sell data, and there are no adverts. If you buy Limiting Factor, Apple or Google handle the payment and we only see an anonymous purchase record.
Who we are
Last Legal is operated by Layover Financial Ltd (trading as Layover), a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17306033). For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Layover Financial Ltd is the data controller of the personal data described in this policy. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration reference ZC184944.
You can reach us at hello@getlayover.app.
Airline affiliation
Last Legal is an independent, privately developed product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with British Airways, International Airlines Group (IAG), or any of their subsidiaries, or any other airline.
What we collect
Last Legal is built so that we collect as little as possible. Most of what the app uses stays on your phone and never reaches us.
Kept only on your device (we never receive it)
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Duty entries | Report time, number of sectors and the duty's date (My duty); duty start, duty finish and whether rest is at home base or away (Rest). Saved for the day so the app shows the same numbers if you reopen it, then deleted automatically after 3 days. |
| Crew entries (Limiting Factor) | The names or labels, roles and start times you type in for crew members. These may include other people's names, so only enter what you need; they stay on your phone and are deleted automatically after 3 days. |
| App settings | The date you accepted the disclaimer, and your light or dark appearance choice. |
These entries are stored in the app's own storage on your phone. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, and they are not included in any analytics.
Collected when you buy Limiting Factor
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Purchase record | An anonymous app user ID created by the app, the product bought, the date, the store (Apple or Google) and the purchase receipt. |
We don't receive your name, email address, Apple ID, Google account or payment card details. Apple or Google take the payment under their own terms and privacy policies.
Collected by Apple and Google, not by us
Apple and Google may provide us with aggregated, anonymous statistics about the app, such as the number of downloads, active devices and crashes, where you've agreed to share this with app developers in your phone's settings. We can't identify you from these figures.
Not collected at all
- No account, no sign-in and no email address.
- No location, contacts, photos or other phone data.
- No advertising identifiers, advertising trackers or cross-app tracking.
- No in-app analytics or crash reporting of our own.
Links to the Layover website: if you tap a link to getlayover.app, it opens in your browser and is covered by the Layover privacy policy. The link includes a tag saying it came from Last Legal, so we can count visits from the app. It carries nothing that identifies you.
App updates: when it opens with a connection, the app asks our update service (Expo) whether a newer version of its code is available, and downloads it if so. That request carries the app's version and your phone's platform, and, like any internet request, your IP address. It never carries your duty, rest or crew entries. Expo keeps standard request logs for a short time to run and secure the service.
This website: lastlegal.getlayover.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for a short time to run and secure the site.
Why we collect it (lawful basis)
Under UK GDPR, every use of personal data needs a lawful basis. Because your duty and crew entries never leave your phone, we don't process them at all. For the little we do process, our lawful bases are:
- Performance of a contract: to sell you Limiting Factor and let you restore it on a new phone or after reinstalling.
- Legitimate interests: to deliver app updates, keep purchases and this website secure, prevent fraud, and understand how many people use the app (from the anonymous store statistics). We balance this against your privacy and only do what a reasonable person would expect.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose records, for example for tax.
How long we keep it
On your phone: each day's duty and rest entries are kept for that day and the following 3 days, then the app deletes them automatically when it next opens. "New day" on the Info screen clears today's entries straight away, and deleting the app removes everything it has stored. Your app settings (disclaimer acceptance and appearance choice) stay until you delete the app.
Purchase records: we keep these for as long as you might need to restore your purchase, and for as long as the law requires us to keep sales records (currently six years for UK tax purposes).
International transfers
RevenueCat, Expo and Vercel may process data in the US. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or equivalent safeguards (for example Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions). You can request a copy of the relevant transfer mechanism by emailing us.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify: correct anything that's wrong.
- Erase: ask us to delete your data (right to be forgotten).
- Restrict: limit how we use your data.
- Port: receive a copy in a portable format.
- Object: to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on consent (currently we don't, but this remains your right).
Your duty and crew entries are already fully under your control: they're only on your phone, and you can delete them with "New day" or by deleting the app. Because purchase records are anonymous, we may need you to send us the app user ID shown in the app so we can find yours.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@getlayover.app. We aim to respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Security
Your entries are kept in the app's private storage on your phone, protected by your phone's own security (passcode, Face ID or fingerprint). Purchase records are sent and stored encrypted (TLS in transit, encrypted at rest by our provider). Access to purchase records is limited to the founder.
No system is unbreakable. If a breach occurs that affects your data, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours, as required by law, and tell users through the app and this page.
Children
Last Legal is intended for working cabin crew and flight crew, who are by definition adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children, and the app collects nothing that would identify anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and tell you in the app. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. We don't have your email address, so we can't email you about changes. Continuing to use Last Legal after a change means you accept the updated policy.
